Non-Surgical Cosmetic Treatments

Botox cosmetic is a nonsurgical method used to restore youthful skin by reducing and preventing the sign of aging. It is known to be the most effective treatment to remove fine lines and wrinkles that are associated with aging from the face and neck. This is given as a number of tiny injections intended to affect only the specific area where injected. The ingredients for Botox is consisted of a neurotoxin called onabotulinumtoxinA (the active ingredient) which is produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum, human albumin (a protein found in human blood plasma) and sodium chloride (salt). Botox works by blocking signal from nerves to the muscles which then relaxes the facial muscles. This causes the wrinkles to relax and soften hence the youthfullooking skin. However, the result only last for 34 months without the right type of treatment and maintenance plan. That's why SummerSkye MD takes a detailed approach to develop a personalized approach to each patient's skin type and prepares a treatment plan that is effective, safe and long lasting with the ideal amount of maintenance.

Why Botox is safe?

Botox is FDAapproved for this use, but for certain areas only (face and neck). New study suggests that Botox is very safe and have a very low rate of side effects. Botulinum toxins are not expected to induce death of neurons if they just block signals between neurons and muscles which is the well- established mode of action for this class of toxins.

In a rare occasion, minor side effects such as bruising, lumpiness or skin discoloration can occur, but only in less than 1%, according to a study in the journal JAMA Dermatology. Study lead author Dr. Murad Alam, a dermatologist said that he was surprised on how low they were, surpassing his expectations. However, Dr. Michael C. Edwards, the president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, said that the study only included expert specialists who routinely perform these treatments, so it’s not impossible to have a bad side effect if the treatment is handled by an inexperienced provider. Botox makes an attractive alternative to facelift, because it doesn’t require opening the skin and needing anaesthesia.
